Jackpot Junction Casino Reopens After Cyberattack Disruption

Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton, Minnesota, has successfully resumed full operations after a significant cybersecurity incident. The casino, operated by the Lower Sioux Indian Community, faced disruptions starting March 27, 2025, when a ransomware attack compromised various systems, including slot machines, bingo operations, and communication networks.

The attack not only impacted the casino’s gaming services but also extended to essential community services such as healthcare and education, highlighting the extensive reach of the cyber intrusion. In response, the Lower Sioux Indian Community collaborated with cybersecurity experts to contain the breach and restore affected systems.

By April 11, 2025, the casino had fully reopened, reinstating over 1,200 slot machines and resuming bingo games. To welcome back patrons and express gratitude for their patience, the casino introduced special promotions, including free play offers and scheduled events. The incident underscores the growing cybersecurity challenges faced by the gaming industry and the importance of robust protective measures
