UK Gambling Commission to Enforce New Consumer Protection Measures

The UK Gambling Commission has announced a series of new regulations set to take effect in October 2025, focusing on strengthening consumer protections within the gambling industry. These measures stem from the Gambling Act review white paper published in April 2023, which proposed updates to modernize gambling laws in Great Britain.
One of the key changes requires all licensed operators to prompt new customers to set a deposit limit before making their first transaction. While some operators already offer similar options, this new rule will standardize the practice across all licensed gambling platforms. Additionally, players will have the ability to adjust their limits over time, and operators will be required to remind users every six months to review their account and transaction history.
Operators will also need to provide clearer information about how players' funds are protected and where to access support resources. The Commission emphasized that these changes aim not to burden players, but to foster a safer, more transparent gambling environment across the UK.
