Tribal Casinos Record Historic $43.9 B Gaming Revenue in FY 2024
Tribal casinos across the United States reported a record-breaking $43.9 billion in gross gaming revenue for the period from October 2023 through September 2024. This marks the fourth consecutive fiscal year of growth in tribal gaming revenues.
These figures include income from slots, table games, sports betting, and digital gaming conducted by Native American–owned casinos, spread across 532 properties managed by 243 federally recognized tribes in 29 states. Leading markets included California, where tribal casino operations generated approximately $12.1 billion in GGR, followed by regions in the East and Southeast.
Tribal gaming’s expansion has paralleled broader legalization trends in U.S. gaming: as more states adopt legal sports wagering and online casino frameworks, tribes have leveraged their regulatory status and local governance to capture a growing share of the market. The sector’s financial success has deep community impacts, offering revenue streams for education, infrastructure, healthcare, and sovereign governance initiatives.
Still, tribal operators face competitive pressures from commercial operators venturing into traditional and digital arenas, as well as the task of sustaining growth in maturing markets and aligning with new regulatory frameworks.
