Las Vegas Sands Raises Dividend by 20% Despite Weaker Quarterly Results
Las Vegas Sands has announced a 20% increase in its planned 2027 dividend after reporting third-quarter results that fell short of Wall Street expectations. The company's shares declined following the earnings announcement, reflecting concerns about weaker performance in its Asian casino operations.
For the July–September quarter, Las Vegas Sands reported revenue of $3.22 billion and earnings per share of 54 cents. Analysts had expected revenue of approximately $3.33 billion and earnings of 68 cents per share.
Macau was a major source of weakness. Sands China's revenue increased just 1.4% year-on-year to $1.93 billion, while net income fell nearly 30% to $191 million. The company's Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore also recorded lower revenue, which dropped to $1.29 billion from $1.43 billion a year earlier.
Despite the disappointing figures, Las Vegas Sands plans to raise its 2027 dividend to $1.44 per share, equivalent to 36 cents per quarter. This would mark the third consecutive annual increase since the company reinstated its dividend in 2023.
The operator also repurchased $950 million worth of its shares during the third quarter. Management remains optimistic about the long-term prospects of Macau and Singapore, where ongoing investments are expected to improve hospitality offerings and expand entertainment capacity.
