Overview

Have you noticed, the harder the times the more we all are longing for some fairy tale? Maybe it’s this spellbinding feeling of freedom and security everyone finds in it? Or it may just be a distraction? Diving deep into some other reality to get a short rest from your own? Whatever is the case check out Rival’s Silver Unicorn. It may turn out just the refuge you need from the burden of everyday existence.

So what is there waiting for us in a fantasy magic forest filled with fairies, unicorns and all sorts of other magical creatures? What catches your eye at first is a sleek design. The reel screen and the interface are neatly embedded into each other, and they fit the major slot theme just right. The control buttons and widgets look like leaves and acorns. It’s even hard to tell from the beginning where is an active button and where is the unclickable background.

As far as functionality goes there are standard sets of buttons for betting, spinning, help and balance. Silver Unicorn features 20 paylines. You may choose the number you wish to stake on using the corresponding buttons at the bottom of the reels screen or on its sides. Fixing a bet is rather standard for Rival, apart from the number of lines to choose there are the coins per line and their value. You are free to stake from one to ten coins per one line. The coin may be worth from 0.01 to 0.25. What gives you a total bet range from 0.01 to 50.00 per spin. I guess you may tell this range suits every gambler no matter what size his bankroll is. Spinning may be performed manually or in an automatic mode. Paytable section is at the top of the screen if you need some extra info on the payouts and combinations.

Speaking of which, let’s see what are our odds at Silver Unicorn. The basic gameplay rules are simple: land a set of matching symbols on the lines starting with the first reel and you are done. Standard icons form combinations of as few as three tiles to as many as five. Of course, the combo has to land on the payline you have pre-chosen. Then, multiply the coins staked per line by the multiplier for this type of combo, and you would know what your win is. If you hit more than one combo per spin, they are summed up.

So, let’s speak tiles. All of them, obviously, are designed to match the main theme of a dreamy and mystical forest. Thus, we have a bunch of magic creatures, the most friendly looking thought, as well as some incidental-looking symbols. The graphics are nice, and the animation is rather basic. Nothing really elaborate here.

The Heart tile and the tile with an Owl are paid the least. For a combination of five, your bet gets multiplied only 75 times. Five Goblins are worth 100x the wager. An exactly the same set of Unicorn crowns is paid 150x the stake. Five Princesses are worth 200x, while five Princes are paid 250x. Can’t help but make some anti-sexists comment over this choice of numbers here. Five Fairies are worth 400x, and the Castle Tower in a maximum set of five will be paid 750x the line wager.

Apart from standard tiles there are also some special features ones. Here, at Silver Unicorn we get a Jackpot tile. It’s unique, as a minimal combo it may form is a set of just two of a kind. This combination is paid 5x the line wager. For as many a five, your win will be worth 2,500x the stake.

Then, there is a Free spin scatter. It’s tile with a Rose. For three Roses, you will get ten free games. For four of a kind, you will be granted twenty spins on the house. And for the maximum combination of five, you’ll receive 50 spins free of charge. Also, your free spin wins are to be tripled, thanks to the Scatter multiplier.

Obviously, there should be a substitute tile in a game. Here, it’s a Unicorn tile. It replaces missing tiles form combinations and comes with a doubling multiplier. What’s more, the wild here gets expandable, but only when it lands on an odd reel. Expandable wild takes over the whole reel giving you some extra chances to win. Free games come with Super Round features. One of those is the Expandable Wild multiplier increasing from 2x to 3x.

What’s more, Silver Unicorn has a bonus round called the Memory Match bonus play. You have to collect at least three Rainbow Butterflies anywhere across the real screen to initiate the bonus mode. Silver Unicorn bonus game is a basic card memory game, when you have to turn over the cards and then look for matching pairs. The game is over after all six matching pairs have been revealed and all the bonus points have been collected. Rainbow Butterfly scatter also comes with some regular symbol features, namely you are paid for hitting its combo. For the set of three tiles, your win is worth 1x the bet. The set of four triples your wager. And the maximum combo of five is paid 25x the stake.

As you can see, Silver Unicorn is a solid slot machine with all possible features any slot may have. The RTP here is as good as Rival can offer: around 96%. If you are into the topic or looking for some new slot to spice up your gambling routine, then it is a legit choice. Of course sometimes the theme tends to get on your nerves, let’s face it is rather cheesy, but if you are fine with it then why not.
