Overview

When summer is over and days are no longer warm and long it’s not a reason to get all blue and depressed. Yes, the days get brisk and chilly, but the barns and storehouses are stocked with goodies and the beer barrels are full. And everyone knows what that means. It means that the Oktoberfest is here. So put on your Lederhosen, take out your favorite beer mug and get the snacks ready. There is nothing better than a fresh pretzel and some sauerkraut to go with your beer. But no worries, there is no need to go anywhere. Oktoberfest is waiting for you in the Rival’s Roll Out The Barrels slot.

Roll Out The Barrels is a classic five-reel slot, featuring 20 paylines. To win here, you have to choose a line and land a combination of at least three matching symbols on it. You may choose as many lines as you wish. Remember the longer the combination the bigger your win, but no matter what it should start on the first reel. All the regular symbol combos are paid left to right exclusively. It’s a bit different with the scatters though, as they are paid both ways.

So what are the wining combinations? There are, as usual, two types of paysymbols in the slot. First, there are regular tiles. And there are also some scatter icons that offer some extra winning options.

Let’s start with regular tiles. They all remind us of Oktoberfest. The Mag full of Beer tile and the Sauerkraut & Sausages icon is paid 60x and 65x respectively. Pretzels are paid 100 times while the icon with a  classic German-style Beer Mug is worth 125x. Bavarian style Lederhosen or Leather Pants are paid 160x. Accordion tiles are worth 250x the stake. The Cuckoo Clock tile is paid 400x. Bavarian Style Hat icon is paid 500 times the line wager. All these payouts are for the biggest combination possible: five matching tiles on a line.

There is also a Jackpot icon. It's a tile featuring  a jolly tipsy laughing Bavarian Fella. For the set of two your wager will become 5 times bigger, while for the set of 5, the reward will be 2,000x the bet.

Roll Out The Barrels features an ordinary set of Scatter icons. There is a Wild. The Wild tile looks like a Beer Barrel and it has all the regular features everyone expects from a Wild: it substitutes any missing icons, so a winning combination could be formed. In other words, it bridges together two parts of a combo. Here the Wild appears on the first and the second reels only. But the best thing about the Wild of this slot is that it’s expandable. When you land it on the reel, it expands to feel the whole reel so potentially several more winning combos could be formed. During the free spin mode, the Wild comes with a 2x multiplier. During the Tap the Keg Bonus the multiplier becomes even bigger: it triples the win.

Another Scatter is a tile with an Alp Horn. If you land three of those or more the free spin round is  triggered. For 3 tiles, you are given 15 free spins. The set of four gets rewarded with 25 spins on the house. For the five, you get as many as 50 spins free of charge. During the Free Spin round, if you hit three or more Scatters, the Tap the Keg Bonus Game is initiated. Tap the Keg is an extra bonus perk. During it, you are given 15 more free spins.

The Barmaid tile is a bonus Scatter. Match 3 Barmaid icons to trigger the bonus game. This round is an interactive game where you pick between several items. A bit too plain for the bonus game, but still.  Here, you make a choice between a set of beer barrels. If you find cash prizes hidden inside a barrel, the bonus points are added to your slot account. Choosing an empty barrel will end the bonus mode, and you will return to the regular play mode. The Barmaid icon also may for a winning combo, like any other paysymbol of the game. If you hit three, your wager will be multiplied 1 time, but for the set of five the multiplier will be 25. Rather generous really!

Operating the slot is easy. Ever played a Rival slot before? Then  you know them all. To select paylines use either the button underneath the reel-screen or the widgets with numbers at the side bars. You may stake up to ten coins per line. The coins are worth from 0.01 to 0.25, which is rather standard for this provider. So the total bet may reach 50 per spin tops. Maybe a little low for high rollers, but gamblers who bet moderately would be happy. Spinning can be done automatically or manually, as you wish. Which is also a standard feature of any Rival slot.

To say we liked the slot is to say nothing, we were thrilled with joy. First, it's the theme. Bavarian beer-drinking fest is a dream. Their tasty food, their outstanding beer and their buxom bartender ladies. We simply can’t stop thinking about all them. The tiles are so elaborate and so nicely done, spinning them is pure joy. The design is made with great appreciation to the ethos and the ambiance of the fest and Bavarian land. And some incidental animation introducing the Expanding Wild is a thumbs-up perk. When you see Beer flooding the entire reel, it’s pure excitement. And not only because of the potential winnings, it almost smells beer. The regular wins at Roll out the Barrels are rather moderate, but some special features come with bigger winnings. And they are easy to trigger too. So grab a six-pack and take a spin or two at Roll out the Barrels. Thought we are positive, one six-pack and a couple of spins won't suffice. It’s addictive.
